When to Plan a Great Migration Safari

When to Plan a Great Migration Safari

A month-by-month view of the migration cycle and what each season offers.

By Limitless AdventuresOctober 21, 2026
The Great Migration follows rain and fresh grass rather than fixed dates. From January to March, the southern Serengeti supports calving and intense predator activity. From June, herds move north and river crossings become possible. July through October often brings action near the Mara River and northern Serengeti. A strong plan uses camps near the likely movement and allows enough time in the ecosystem.
